Banquet Hall, Camelot, Friday Night

It had been a week since certain... events. Arthur's position had been reinstated, and he had very, very subtly informed his father that he really did not want to know any of the details about his marriage bed.

Ahem.

(It had been harder than he'd anticipated to keep a straight face, which was probably relief.)

Now, King Uther had ordained a feast in Arthur's honour, to celebrate the return of his titles. The servants in the castle preferred to refer to it as the 'Thank-God-I-Am-No-Longer-Married-To-A-Troll feast', though none of them would be caught calling it such out loud. Perish the thought.

There was plenty of wine, there was plenty of food, and as the night went on, the nobles loosened up -- which meant the servants got to dip into their fair share of drink, too.

It was a good night.

[[ for they who are here! ]]

"Ohgod, you don't think the king noticed, do you?"

"Nah." The last couple of weeks, at least, Katchoo was fairly sure he wouldn't have. What with the troll-besottedness and all. "I don't think Arthur lets most people see him doing it."

"Good, he'd have me hung for buggering the prince," Merlin whispered.

. . . Katchoo couldn't even blame the cider for her sudden impulse to reach out and hug him, dammit.

"Over my dead frikkin' body he will," she hissed through her teeth, even though she had no goddamned clue how she'd hold up that bargain.

"You're the bessst," Merlin replied, clinging to her and the drinks. "You an' Francine are so wonderful. I'm so glad you two are lesssbians."

Thank god he was kind of on the skinny side, since Katchoo felt like she was already in danger of toppling over.

"Aww," she said, her usual reflexive reply of I'm not a lesbian, I just don't like men luckily very far from her mind right now. She reached up to pat him on the shoulder. "I'm . . . glad you're glad."

"No sausage," Merlin informed her hair blearily.

Katchoo snickered, the sound a little muffled by the clinging. "Nah. Leave that to you guys."
