Arthur had driven them down to the hotel last night with rather astounding skill (and he wasn't even saying so himself; he'd had no accidents, no minor incidents, and in fact had needed precious little time to adapt to driving on the left side of the road, especially for a man who had only known of cars for the past year or so).

He'd charmed his way into getting the room with the bed that looked a great deal like his, and then somewhere along the line he'd passed out to sleep off that bizarre state of whatever you got into after flying.

The hotel was nice. It would do.

"You were asking for it," Arthur informed him, shifting his position on the bed to allow Merlin to settle in more properly, should he be willing to stop complaining for a few seconds to take advantage of it.

Arthur beamed back at him.

"It never comes up," he said, conspiratorally, "So I had to make something up on the fly."

"... I wasn't necessarily referring to whipping anyone in bed," Arthur said, pulling a face, "That just sounds nasty."

"Do you do that often?"

Arthur stared at him as if he'd just grown another head.

"If they've been sentenced to it, it's occasionally part of my duties to oversee it," he said. Still staring.

Arthur threw him a look that wasn't really funny - he'd known Merlin for long enough to expect that sort of thing - and more lightly exasperated. "So don't worry about your poor bottom," he said, soothingly.

Arthur shot him a dry look that read, If I am, then you're twice as bad, Keeper of the Porn Collection. "I have absolutely no interest in any of that."

"You're not about to break it out one night?"

Arthur managed a slight laugh. "No, Merlin," he said, "I have no interest in pulling a whip on you in the middle of the night, either. Or any other time."

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Have you gotten it all out of your system?" Arthur asked, pulling on the covers so they could get back to being warm and snug now, thanks. "Or are there any other fears you need put at rest?"
